Scottish Buyers Smash Asking Prices

Demand for homes has more than doubled in parts of Scotland over the past year. Fresh data reveals the most sought after locations amid reports that buyers are paying up to 40% over the asking price.

According to an analysis by Right Move, Scotland’s most desirable place is Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire where (measured in enquiries to Estate Agents) demand for property rose 111% between February 2021 and February 2022. In Largs, demand rose by 102% and in Linlithgow by 98%.

Analysis of property prices suggests that the highest proportionate rise has been in Kilmarnock East Ayrshire where the average asking price went up 13% from £105,697 to £119,935.

Based on sales agreed, the biggest rise was in Aberdeen (63%) followed by Dundee (52%) and Kirkcaldy and Fife (24%).
