House prices in Scotland reach a record high

House prices have risen to a record high in Scotland.

Recent research by Halifax bank has revealed that the typical house in Scotland in April 2022 was priced at £196,471, and if inflation continues at the present rate, prices could reach £200,000 by the summer.

Iain McKenzie, of the Guild of Property Professionals, said: “The property market is on a mission to break every record in the book, and ten consecutive months of rising prices is incredible.”

The property market has continued to defy expectations since the start of the pandemic. The rate of annual growth across Britain fell slightly in April to 10.8% from 11.1%, with Scotland’s increase marginally behind at 8.3%.
