Home Buyers warned over fraud

The Law Society of England have joined the National Economic Crime Centre and Action Fraud to issue flyers to home buyers warning that they should be vigilant against fraud scams when completing on a property purchase. This is an issue that is equally of concern in Scotland.

The prime risk here is of payment diversion fraud, which almost always involves criminals pretending to the victim’s solicitor to con them into diverting payments to an Account that they can control. This is why we at Raeside Chisholm take this matter extremely seriously and will always let you know at the outset details of our Client Account, which will never change during the course of a transaction. If you receive any email purporting to be from us which tells you to change the account details, you should not act in accordance with this instruction and should immediately contact the solicitor who deals with your transaction.
