Will Aid survey reveals lack of inheritance planning

This yearâs survey by Will Aid into the level of inheritance planning across the UK has found that around 60% of those surveyed have not yet written a will. Even amongst those over 55, 32% still have no will.

If someone dies without making a will, their estate will be distributed under the laws of intestacy, and may not go to the people the deceased person would have chosen. The lack of a will can also bring additional stress to loved ones at a time when they are least equipped to cope.

Shirley Marsland, Will Aid Campaign Manager, says: âPeople are not making wills because they donât believe they need to and their lack of knowledge can end up costing individuals and families a small fortune, as well as a lot of stress and hardship and perhaps even bitter disputes.

âPeople need to take action to protect their hard earned assets and ensure they pass to the people and causes they care about. Will Aid provides the perfect opportunity to write an affordable will or to update an existing one and to donate to worthwhile and effective charities at the same time.â

Raeside Chisholm is taking part in Will Aid throughout November, so contact us today for an appointment to write your will.
